We are thrilled to announce that acclaimed stage actor Jonathon Young will be hosting Scrabble With The Stars on May 27, 2019 at the Sony Centre.
As co-founder of Vancouver’s Electric Company Theatre, Jonathon has collaborated on the making of 19 original productions including Tear the Curtain! (Arts Club Theatre and Canadian Stage), No Exit (a re-working of Jean-Paul Sartre’s play performed across Canada and in San Francisco at the American Conservatory Theatre) and Betroffenheit, the Olivier Award-Winning production which he co-created with choreographer Crystal Pite. For his performance in Betroffenheit, Jonathon received the 2017 UK National Dance Award. As Playwright-in-Residence at Kidd Pivot in Vancouver, Jonathon recently created Revisor, another dance/theatre piece choreographed by Pite that recently completed a cross-Canada tour (Vancouver Playhouse, NAC in Ottawa, Canadian Stage, Danse Danse in Montreal).
Jonathon has written text for two for projects at Nederlands Dans Theater: The Statement (2015) and Parade (2017). As an actor, Jonathon has performed on stages across Canada. Recent projects: The Full Light of Day (Electric Company/Luminato 2019) All But Gone – a Beckett Rhapsody (Necessary Angel, Toronto), The Waiting Room (Arts Club Theatre, Vancouver), The Great Gatsby (Theatre Calgary), Hamlet (Bard on the Beach Festival, Vancouver), This (Canadian Stage, Toronto), Studies in Motion (Vancouver Playhouse, Citadel, Alberta Theatre Projects, FTA, Canadian Stage). He is a graduate of the acting program at Studio 58 in Vancouver.
